Welcome to the new year of 2013! We have added some new coaches as well as recently welcomed back some of our past established coaches to provide additional depth to our staff. This will prove to enhance our programs for this year.
North Star was established in McKinney by Mary & John Unertl in 1989. We offer a comprehensive schedule of Recreational, Class and Competitive Programs. Children can start out with our "Tiny Tots" group, progress thru Kinder Gym classes, to girls and boys gymnastics classes. For those students with special talent and a good work ethic, we offer Competitive Women's Gymnastics and Competitive Cheerleading Teams. Thru the years, North Star has put forth numerous Gymnastics State Champions as well as National Championship Cheerleading Teams. We also offer Tumbling & Trampoline classes for those interested in perfecting their tumbling skills, but not interested in being involved with all the gymnastics apparatus.
Private lessons are a specialty in that North Star offers some amazing coaches that will provide one on one instruction for honing those special skills. We have recently added some exciting new staff members to our Competitive Teams, for both Gymnastics and Cheerleading. For the upcoming Cheerleading season, many area students recognize North Star as the place to get private lessons prior to spring tryouts.
We invite any prospective students to stop by the gym with parent and have a look around, then get class and schedule information first hand. Current class information is available at the front desk. Schedules are not published since classes can be filled quickly, then become unavailable. Class ratios are kept at 6 - 1 for Kinder Gym, 8 - 1 for all other classes.
Our school year class schedule began on August 13th and will run through May of 2013. We allow mid session sign ups and prorate. Session tuition is pro-rated based on start date of class. North Star has the activities available to keep your children busy and active throughout the year. Competitive Cheer Tryouts will be end of April. Keep watching for exact dates under Up Coming Events. Day Camp postings will go up soon also under Up Coming Events.
As of Sept. 14, 2011, for the fourth consecutive year, North Star has captured numerous "Readers Choice' awards from the McKinney Courier Gazette newspaper. North Star has been voted "Best" for Gymnastics, Sports Team, Health & Beauty, Summer Camps, Children's Place to Party, and Best Place to Work ! We are proud of these awards as they speak volumes as to the quality of our overall organization.
We have recently made our lobby space available for rental for adult functions. Details under the 'Programs' tab.
